Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love from a rabbit named Poot

The ache is fresh, the loss is real
The sorrow floods each waking thought like unrelenting waves pounding a beach with no end in sight
The dish lies empty, why did you go?
The naps beneath the skylights in midday sun are gone forever
The pet you called your friend, has gone away and left something hollow and vacant inside
The morning dances of joy completing circles around your feet fade to dusk and are a treasured memory, an artifact of simple yet pure love
The thumps of a grand entrance echo off the walls from a not so distant past Sleeping under random tables, like horses in a stable, the remains of timothy hay can be found with no owner to eat
A banana each morning was such a good treat
How can such a small animal contain such a massive amount of unconditional love?
Our rabbit gave love like a river flowing with refreshing water, the truth and experiences are now stored away and are more precious than gold itself
Peace my friend and thank you for the life you shared with no strings attached, pouring out love- knowing no end until you departed
I will miss you
I do miss you
